About the role
We are recruiting a Financial Controller for a digital microfinance bank in Accra that is building a modern, technology-enabled institution for Ghana’s formal and informal sectors. You will own financial control: the month-end close, the general ledger in the core banking system, and accurate management accounts, Board packs and prudential returns delivered on the regulator’s calendar. You will apply IFRS, including IFRS 9 expected credit loss, reconcile all payment and settlement channels, and support the external audit so that findings are closed on time. This is a chance to help set the standards of a finance function from the start, in a role with real authority and a committed Board behind it.
What you will do
- Run the month-end close and keep the general ledger in the core banking system accurate
- Deliver management accounts, Board packs and prudential returns on time
- Apply IFRS, including IFRS 9 expected credit loss, and reconcile all payment and settlement channels
- Support the external audit and close findings on time, strengthening internal controls
What we are looking for
- A qualified accountant (ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
- 8+ years’ finance experience, ideally in a deposit-taking financial institution in Ghana
- Hands-on command of IFRS 9 impairment and prudential returns
- Experience implementing a core banking general ledger and month-end close
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, and confidence presenting to auditors and the Board
